For this full-scale home remodeling project, we started with a complete gut renovation, stripping the interior down to the studs. All outdated electrical wiring, plumbing lines, interior walls, old flooring, finishes, doors, and windows were removed to make way for a total transformation.

Our client needed more living space, so we added square footage with a fully custom home addition. We excavated and poured a new concrete foundation at the back of the property, constructed new structural walls and roofing, and opened the existing exterior wall to seamlessly connect the old and new spaces.

To give the home a fresh, modern look, we installed light-colored fiber cement siding on the new addition and refinished the original brick façade with smooth, contemporary stucco. These upgrades not only boosted curb appeal but also improved energy efficiency and durability.

The original home had no basement, so we created a compact underground mechanical room, accessed through a hidden floor door and marine stairs. We installed a Navien tankless water heater and other updated mechanical systems in this concealed space to maximize square footage and functionality.

• On the second floor, we framed brand-new interior walls to accommodate a reimagined layout featuring a spacious primary bedroom with a walk-in closet and a beautifully designed en suite bathroom, along with a comfortable guest bedroom, full guest bathroom, and a functional home office.

  To enhance the home’s energy efficiency and comfort, we installed high-performance insulation in all exterior walls to reduce thermal bridging and heat loss. Additionally, we added soundproof insulation between floors to minimize noise transfer between living spaces.

  All walls and ceilings were finished with blue board and smooth plaster, creating a clean, seamless look throughout the home. We upgraded the entire infrastructure by installing new electrical wiring, modern plumbing systems, and a completely new HVAC installation for optimal climate control.

  For the flooring, we installed new subfloors topped with elegant natural oak hardwood flooring, adding warmth and character to every room.

  On the first floor, we constructed two new utility spaces: a laundry room designed for a stackable washer and dryer, and a stylish half bathroom for added convenience.

Once we completed the structural and rough-in phases, we moved on to one of the most rewarding parts of any project—the finish work.

We installed solid oak interior doors featuring a sleek, glossy clear finish, achieved by carefully applying two coats of polyurethane for durability and elegance. To complement the home’s architectural style, we added Prairie-style windows with clean lines and geometric details—a nod to the iconic designs of Frank Lloyd Wright.

A key visual element throughout the home is the matte black window and door hardware, which adds a bold, modern touch and enhances the home’s sophisticated aesthetic.

Because the homeowner is an avid reader, we crafted a custom reading nook tucked between the wall and a window, complete with a charming light fixture to create the perfect cozy corner.

To bring more natural light into the upper level, we installed Velux skylights outfitted with motorized shades, allowing for convenient control of sunlight and added comfort in the second-floor bedrooms and living areas.

To enhance the home’s architectural detail, we installed transom windows above the interior doors, bringing in additional light while maintaining visual continuity throughout the space.

A newly constructed modern staircase, outfitted with LED recessed lighting, leads up to a stunning rooftop deck. The deck features a sleek access hatch that doubles as a skylight, flooding the interior with natural light while preserving a clean, streamlined appearance. The rooftop space is finished with low-maintenance composite decking, and AZEK post lighting provides soft illumination—perfect for enjoying evenings outdoors in style and comfort. A privacy screen was also added for enhanced seclusion.

Upstairs, both second-floor bathrooms are equipped with radiant floor heating systems, controlled by individual thermostats for maximum comfort. We installed premium Grohe plumbing fixtures, Robern recessed medicine cabinets, and elegant marble tile finishes. The luxurious master bathroom features a walk-in shower complete with a built-in bench, integrated storage niches, massage jets, and a rainfall showerhead—creating a spa-like experience at home.

The open-concept kitchen was designed to feel bright and spacious, featuring navy blue shaker cabinets, stylish modern countertops, and stainless steel appliances, blending both function and trend-forward design.

As a final touch, we upgraded the front entry with a new exterior door equipped with a Nest Ring doorbell, combining curb appeal with smart home technology.
