GREAT PROJECT MANAGING, POSITIVE AND ACCOMMODATING
My husband and I bought an old farmhouse Victorian house (built in 1892) in Needham in April of 2016. Although the house has great bones, it needed a little new breadth into it. As 1st time home owners, we weren’t quite sure what we wanted to do but had a few contractors come over and give us their thoughts on how we can maximize our updates with minimal cost/work.
We went with Mike and his company, By Home Mass because he spent a great deal of time with us going over every detail and suggested to touch up the home and update it to keep the integrity but make it our own. His quote was incredibly detailed and he sent it to us when he said he would, something NONE of the other contractors provided to us.
Overall, we are incredibly happy with the decision to work with Mike. Like many homeowners, we started off with one vision and changed our mind several times throughout the whole process (sorry Mike!). He was always positive and accommodating and made sure the work got done and we were happy in the end.
The list of items I can think of off the top of my head that he did was:
– Re-plaster many of our old crumbling and old horse hair plaster walls – awesome job!
– Paint interior walls – from bright reds and yellows to beautiful neutral grays
– Re-finish & Stain hardwoods – all original hardwoods that now are gorgeous
– Open up doorway from kitchen to dining room to create open living concept (our favorite decision and makes such a difference in the flow of the house)
– Install recessed lighting in the living/dining space (also looks amazing)
– Re-finish and paint our really old banged up wood staircase (now looks super classy and nice)
– Finish off a wall that previously was a window to nowhere
– Install all new crown molding and baseboards
– Install gorgeous dining room wainscoting
– Rip out carpet in our bedroom and install hardwood floors
I would highly recommend using Mike and his team for any renovations and remodels in your house. He is a very hard worker and is now a great friend. I am not going to lie and say that the process was perfect but I think for the amount we changed and added to our requests, he did a great job managing it with always a smile on his face.

HIGHEST STANDARD WITHIN OUR BUDGET
Firstly, I can’t recommend Mike highly enough for any level of remodeling or renovation jobs you may be doing. We recently used ByHome to remodel the kitchen, bathroom and a large portion of the living area in our home and have been delighted with the both the process and the results. Although I was pretty sure I wanted to use ByHome based on a friend’s recommendation, I wanted to get bids from other renovation contractors for our remodel just to be thorough. When compared with the other bids, I was very impressed with Mike pricing and the level of detail outlined in his bid. Another big factor for me in choosing the right contractor was the lead time involved for the renovation. Most of the other contractors couldn’t work within our time constraints- which was to have all of the remodeling completed in eight weeks.
We knew it would be tight but Mike absolutely pulled through for us. Both our kitchen and bathroom look amazing, and both are so much more functional than they were before. We were absolutely delighted (and surprised based on experience with other contractors) that the remodel stayed on schedule and within our budget. The remodel took the demolition of the kitchen, bathroom and part of the living space down to the studs and put it all back together again with new plumbing, electrical and heating. Mike helped source all of the new appliances and finishes through his vendors for the entire remodel which can be a handful if you haven’t done it before. All the work performed throughout the remodel is of the highest standard and we enjoyed working with Mike and his team.
I also really appreciated how hard they all worked towards keeping the remodel on schedule and ‘WITHIN OUR BUDGET’. Remodeling, or any kind of renovation, (whether big or small) can be very stressful- but having Mike as our contractor really helped alleviate the majority of our concerns and I will definitely be calling him for any future renovation needs we may have.

ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING
We hired ByHome to do a complete interior remodel of our home, which looked like it was stuck in the 1990s. This involved creating a more open floor plan for the main level and reconfiguring the master bedroom/bathroom suite on the second level. Everything in the house was torn out and updated to a modern aesthetic. Adding to the complexity of the project, we had a tight timeline of 6 months and were overseeing the entire project from out-of-state. Having been through a few smaller scale remodels previously, we were prepared for a long and stressful process with numerous delays. However Mike and his team were absolutely outstanding, and the remodel couldn’t have gone more smoothly.
The quality of work and attention to detail are excellent, and amazingly, they were able to complete the project in 4.5 months! Mike stands by his work and that of his subs, and even after project completion, he comes back to fix minor issues that we’ve only noticed after living in the house. We are so happy that we chose ByHome for our remodel and would definitely hire them again. We love our home now, and everyone who sees it is totally blown away by the transformation.

PROBLEM-SOLVING, CREATIVE, PHENOMENAL RESULTS
We had a very good experience with ByHome. They installed our dream master bath on the third floor of our new home. Mike and his crew are great. He is very responsive, and will make sure that you have an end product you are satisfied with. They putting in a master bath in an odd empty attic space, in what previous contractors had said would be “impossible” or overly difficult due to the sloped attic roof, required imagination and flexibility. The results are phenomenal, and we were able to select every element we wished, from fixtures, tile, tile placement, trim, and details, such as edging and baseboards. I’m sure we were annoying clients with our eye for detail at times, but nobody at ByHome made us feel that way!
The crew was kind, flexible, and moreover, MIke and subcontractors are polite and easy to be around, which is vital if one works from home.
Mike replies promptly to texts, and always calls to follow up or stops by when something isn’t clear. We have also stayed in contact with several sub-contractors since our project finished, to have them do additional work in the house. We stayed firmly within budget, completed the job for an extremely reasonable price, and his contractors detected and fixed leaks caused by the work of a local contractor we had previously hired–we will always be grateful for that. When we didn’t like an element, we told him, and it was no problem and it got fixed, even if creative problem-solving was needed. We would recommend ByHome without hesitation to anyone.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
We planned to do some remodeling work for our 1800 sqf basement last summer. After a lot of online research, I finally picked 3 companies and asked them to visit my house and gave us estimates for the project. A large local company (who partnership with a famous national brand) gave me a extremely high quote for their fancy plan, and a small contractor gave us a quote which we thought was suspiciously low. Mike came to our house twice, did a through measurement for the whole basement, and gave us a pretty reasonable quote, so we pick his company to work on our basement project.
From the day one to the finish, Mike and his team had done a great job, and everything had met or exceeded our expectations! They maintained a high-level of professionalism through the whole process, and always kept their promise about the project schedules, they also cleaned up the work site every day after their finished their work. Mike also gave us many good/professional recommendations during the remodeling process.
After their excellent and professional work, we had a beautiful brand-new basement right before the holiday season starts, our family and all our friends have enjoyed it very much ever since.

HONEST AND EXTREMELY HARD WORKING
ByHome completed our first floor remodel in 2018-19. The work included gutting our entire downstairs (kitchen and living area), expanding the footprint, removing a load bearing wall and inserting a one ton beam to support the upstairs. The work that Mike and his team did on our home is excellent. The final space is beautiful, well made, well designed and exactly what we had wanted. Mike and his team are extremely hard working, meticulous and take a lot of pride in their product. We are thrilled with the result. Overall the process was not the easiest, but I think that can be said for all remodels. Mike did his best to accommodate us throughout the process. Early on we hit a snag, with structural engineering plans and the layout of the existing HVAC system.
Mike worked very hard with the architect and the engineer (who was very difficult to deal with) to find the most cost effective solution, in order to maintain the open concept we wanted, and not blow our budget. He is incredibly honest and we always felt we could trust him. We can highly recommend Mike and his team.

EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE
We had an excellent experience with Mike and ByHome. They replaced our front stairs. They used excellent materials for the railings and decking. Mike was always reachable and accurate with both the time frame and price estimate. We needed some additional structural work once the project started and the price was fair for the work that needed to be done. The crew was fantastic and answered all of our questions. Mike’s professionalism was refreshing after a couple bad experiences with other contractors. We had actually found a contractor to do this job last spring. He gave us a price and kept saying that he would start in a “couple weeks”. He never came. We went on to another contractor who never even came out to give us a price. Later, we found ByHome because they did some work for our neighbor.
We were very happy with the results and plan to use ByHome in the future for a larger project.
